Gender and Identity Studies

The Gender and Identity Studies Minor, offered through the Department of Communication and Media, challenges students to think critically about the intersecting aspects of identity, including sex assigned at birth, gender identity, race, ethnicity, sexuality, and socioeconomic class. In addition, students analyze the social institutions that influence identity, shaping individuals’ views of themselves and how they interact with others.

I plan to be a lawyer specializing in civil rights, so taking women and gender studies courses are really good at keeping me aware of what is going on and the issues of marginalized groups.
